A Guide To Buying An Electric Walk-Behind Lawn Mower

Although it is not as expensive as other gardening power tools, deciding right is still important. To help you get started, below are some of the major factors to consider when buying it.

Corded or Cordless

Basically, there are two types of mowers to see in the market, one is the corded and the other one is cordless. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages, to explain the difference of the two, read below:

• Price

In terms of price, cordless is more expensive than the corded. Cordless are most of the time operated using powerful and light lithium batteries, that are not cheap. Also, the unit itself is more expensive, depending on the brand.

• Coverage

Corded can reach up to what its cord permits, while cordless can cover only limited area as the life of it is highly dependent on its batteries.

For cordless, it is best if you have two batteries so you can charge one battery while using the other one.

• Ease of use

If you are after ease of use, considering cordless is advice. Corded units may cause accidents, like electrocution. You have to be very careful when using corded as if the steel blade of the mower passes on it, it may get sliced or worse cause electrocution or fire.

• Maintenance

They almost have the same level of maintenance requirement, for the corded, it is the cord you have to watch out for as if it is worn out, you have to replace it, while for cordless, you have to change the batteries if it already reaches the maximum times it should be charged.

Height Adjustment

Make sure the lawn mower you will purchase can be adjusted according to your comfort. There are some mowers that can be adjusted manually while there are others where you can adjust very easily. Those that have mechanical adjustment features could be more expensive but definitely a must have if you are adjusting the height often.

Storage

Make sure that the power tool can be folded and can be stored upright. This is important to ensure that there is enough space for it to be stored safely when not in use. Always consider this feature when buying a lawn mower or any other power tools so to speak.
