Ramadan in Qatar: Closure and suspension of all prayers in Mosques to continue
- 4 years ago
The Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs announced the continuation of the closure of mosques and the suspension of congregational prayers (the five obligatory prayers and Friday prayers) until the condition of safety and tranquillity for the worshippers is met, while the call to prayer (Adhan) in all mosques continues.
The Ministry said, in a statement, that Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque is exempted from this decision, in which Friday prayers will be exclusively held in the presence of only 40 people - including the imams and mosque's employees, as well as isha and Taraweeh prayers during the blessed month of Ramadan, in the presence of the imam and four of the mosque's employees, taking into account the health precautions directed by the Ministry of Public Health.
The Ministry said these prayers will be conveyed to the public on television and radio channels, with the assurance that it is not permissible to emulate the imam in prayer transmitted over radio, television and other means of communication.
The ministry confirmed that it will continue to communicate with the competent authorities to follow up the case of the spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19), and it will reopen all mosques as soon as the risk of the epidemic has passed.
