No, Emma Watson Is Not Retiring From Acting. She Is “Quietly Spending The Pandemic Failing To Make Bread” Just Like Us
Emma Watson is many things at once. The Harry Potter actress and model started young and literally raised a generation we know call Potterheads; she is a feminist, a women’s right activist who never shies away from using her platform to fight for the right thing. In fact, it is almost ironic that now she has been subjected to sexist tropes that exist in the showbiz industry where one has to be churning headlines daily, especially if she is a woman. Cause otherwise they sent you packing, declaring you’ve retired and want to settle. Yes, they did the same with Watson who was last seen in Oscar-winning movie Little Women back in 2019. It all began when a source apparently told the Daily Mail that, "Emma has gone underground, she is settling down with Leo. They're laying low. Maybe she wants a family." So much so that her manager Jason Weinberg had to step in to issue a clarification.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Weinbergwas quoted saying, “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant but her career isn’t.” But guess you can’t help gossip mongers who obviously do not understand the concept of rest or time off or break in a freaking global pandemic, no less.

Which is why, after taking a hiatus from social media with the last tweet made in August, Watson has now taken to the micro-blogging site to squash them rumours and put it to bed once and for all. Not just that, she also addressed speculation about engagement to boyfriend Leo Robinton. She began with, “Dear fans, rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is “dormant or not” are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue.”

added that if and when she has news, she will be sure to share it with all. Not just that, the actress made it particularly clear that in the meantime, she is just “quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are - failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people.”

“I am sending so much love to you, hoping you’re ok and as well and happy as you can be in these strange times. And again, thank you to everyone working so hard to keep us safe and well,” she added.
