Priyanka Chopra Jonas never shies away from speaking about the topics like body shaming and racism. Earlier, in several interviews, she has spoken about the racial discrimination she had to face during her growing up days. Recently, while speaking with Marie Claire magazine, Priyanka has spoken about her experience of endorsing skin-whitening creams in India, her bullying experience and more. The global star confessed that she regrets endorsing fairness creams in India. Talking about the same, she further stated that skin lightening was so normalized in South Asia that everyone was doing it as it’s such a large industry.

“In fact, doing it is still a check [mark] when you are a female actor, but it’s awful. And it was awful for me, for a little girl who used to put talcum-powder cream on my face because I believed that dark skin was not pretty,” she added. Later, she shared her bullying experience she faced during her high school days. "It’s so difficult to hear you talk about it right now. In high school, I feel like the kids who were after me didn’t even understand why. I think it’s that they decided that they were more powerful than someone else, me, and when you pick on someone, it’s because you’re insecure,” the actor explained.

Priyanka also said that bullying happens to kids and adults with positions of power. She also said that it affected her adversely, her confidence and who she wanted to be. “I felt exposed, when your skin is raw", she added.

Meanwhile, on the personal front, the actress is working on her memoir book Unfinished and reportedly, she is going to release it soon.

On the work front, she was recently seen alongside Rajkummar Rao in The White Tiger. The film received a lot of appreciation from fans as well as critics.
