Qatar Cinema and Film Distribution Company (QCFDC) re-opened at the Royal Plaza’s Cinema Palace, last Thursday.

Speaking at the re-launch event, Ali Ishaq Hussain Al Ishaq, CEO and Managing Director of QCFDC told QATARDAY, “We are happy to announce the re-opening of cinema halls in Royal Plaza, keeping in mind all the pandemic precautionary measures laid out by the Ministry of Public Health.”

“Although the number of people allowed inside the cinema halls is restricted to 50 and children are still not permitted, we are grateful to the authorities for allowing the partial re-opening of cinema halls in the country,” Al Ishaq added.

The senior QCFDC executive thanked the authorities for allowing a phased opening of cinema halls in Qatar. He believes this would act as a driving factor for the local entertainment industry and bolster the business morale of other related industries in the country.

QCFDC, one of the biggest movie distributors in Qatar, will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary.

According to Al Ishaq, Royal Plaza is the third cinema outlet currently screening movies under QCFDC along with City Centre and The Landmark. Soon after the pandemic ends, the company plans to launch its fourth outlet in the popular Katara Cinema Complex.

With three brand new screens, Royal Plaza’s Cinema Palace boasts the best-of-breed theatre sound and projection equipment. The cinemas are inspired by the large palace theaters of the roaring '20s. Cinema Palace offers a mix of experiences, including luxury concepts, The Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire, with a diversified cinema-viewing experience. The Theatre celebrates the vibrant culture and tradition of different cinemas by bringing you the latest movies from world cinema, including the best of English- and Arab-language movies.

The re-opening ceremony was followed by the premiere of the Hollywood movie ‘The Marksman’, starring Liam Neeson.

Several officials from Royal Plaza and QCFDC also attended the re-launch in the presence of few guests (due to Covid-19 restrictions) and local media personnel.

Film buffs can now book their tickets to movies playing at the Royal Plaza Mall through Q-Tickets - the one-stop platform for movies, sports, events and leisure - by logging in to https://www.q-tickets.com.
