42 killed, many missing in Indonesia flash floods

Streak floods in Indonesia's easternmost area of Papua have killed somewhere around 42 individuals and seriously harmed 21 others, a neighborhood catastrophe organization official told Reuters on Sunday.

The Sentani territory close to the common capital Jayapura has been hit by exuberant downpour since Saturday that set off the floods, said the authority, Cory Simbolon.

Somewhere around nine houses and two extensions were harmed by the floods, national catastrophe organization representative Sutopo Purwo Nugroho stated, including that an inquiry and salvage group still can't seem to achieve all the influenced regions.

"Waters have now subsided, leaving mud, logs and different materials conveyed by the blaze floods," Nugroho said in an announcement.

In excess of 120 occupants were taking safe house at government workplaces after their homes were hit by the floods, he said.

Experts, supported by the Red Cross and volunteers, were reacting to help the dislodged, Nugroho said.
