From February 10 onwards, all customers will be able to bring onboard an underseat cabin bag for free but overhead luggage will cost more

easyJet PLC has announced changes to its pricing policy that will see higher charges for passengers wanting to use overhead lockers.

From February 10 onwards, all customers will be able to bring onboard an underseat cabin bag for free, which has to fit under the seat in front of their place and “will enable them to bring all the essentials for their journey or enough for a short trip”, according to the airline.

However, overhead cabin bags will be available to the ‘Up front’ or ‘Extra legroom’ seats, easyJet Plus cardholders and FLEXI fare customers.

The budget carrier claimed the new policy will provide “certainty” to passengers that want to make sure their luggage fits on the overhead lockers, where the space is limited.

“The new policy will also reduce queue times during boarding and other associated delays which occur due to putting excess cabin bags in the hold and so the move will lead to improved punctuality for all customers,” the firm said.
