Indian wins Global Teacher Award of one million dollars

Ranjitsinh Disale Global Teacher Award
Ranjitsinh Disale, a 32-year-old teacher from Paritewadi village in Maharashtra’s  Solapur district emerged the winner out of 12,000  nominated teachers from 140 countries around the world.
 
Disale is first Indian to win the award. He won the award for his efforts to promote girls' education and for the work done in the field of education through QR coded books. 
 
 
He also uses various other innovative methods in teaching to reduce drop-out rate especially in female students. The impact of Ranjitsinh’s interventions has been truly extraordinary. Due to his contribution, there are now no reported teenage marriages in the village and 100 per cent attendance of girls at the primary school in his village.
 
Disale has said that he would like to share 50% of the prize money with the remaining nine teacher finalists. This is the first time a Global Teacher Awardee has shared his prize money with other nominees.
 
He also plans to launch an initiative where at least 5,000 students from war-affected countries are recruited into a Peace Army each year.
 
Various Indian celebrities also congratulated him on his nomination.
