Oman replaces 170 expat nurses with citizens

Move is part of Sultanate’s plan to replace expatriates with citizens

More than 170 Omani nurses started working today at various health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate, as part of the country’s plan to replace expatriates with Omanis, local media reported.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said: “It has been decided to let them (Omani nurses) begin work starting Tuesday, September 1, 2020, according to the places of work they are nominated for.”

The list included the appointment of 62 nurses at Sohar Hospital, 36 nurses at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, 32 nurses at Ibra Hospital, 18 Ja’alan Bani Bu Ali Hospital, 8 nurses at Sur Hospital, 5 in Khasab hospital, 2 nurses in Al Buraimi hospital and one nurse in Haima hospital.
