Ubisoft Hostage Situation
Montreal police confirmed that their response to a possible hostage situation at French video game company Ubisoft turned out to be a hoax emergency phone call.

Local media initially reported there was a hostage situation underway, but police later announced that "no threat has been identified."

Police evacuated everyone inside the Ubisoft building hours after the mayor of Montreal confirmed a large police presence outside the building early Friday afternoon.

“My team is in close communication with the @SPVM and we are monitoring the situation closely," Mayor Valerie Plante wrote on Twitter. "We invite Montrealers to avoid the Mile-End sector. #polmtl."

Video and images from the building showed Ubisoft workers on the building's roof, with police assembling below. The Twitter page of the Montreal Police Department instructed residents to “avoid the area."

Police said they were dispatched to the area to "respond to a 911 call." The representative confirmed that “no injuries were reported" as of this time, the Guardian reported.

Police at the scene set up several cruisers as ambulance workers looked on.
