US says countries buying Iranian oil will be subject to sanctions

The United States will sanction any nation which purchases oil from Iran after the lapse of waivers on May 2, US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said on Thursday.

sanction would be forced "regardless of whether a nation had not met its already arranged buy tops," Hook said in an announcement. "Our firm approach is to totally zero out buys of Iranian oil. That is all."

The Wall Street Journal revealed before on Thursday that nations like China and India which were issued waivers in November to purchase Iranian could proceed with the buys after May 2 until they achieved an arranged top.
