Sidra Medicine achieves new international accreditation in pediatric specialties

The accreditation is an international standard for providing best medical practices and is responsible for accrediting the majority of medical training graduation programs in the United States.
Sidra Medicine, a member of the Qatar Foundation has received a new accreditation for special fellowship programs from the International Council for Accreditation of Higher Medical Education Programs ( ACGME-I ).
The accreditation is an international standard for providing best medical practices, by being responsible for accrediting the majority of medical training graduation programs in the United States.
Sidra Medicine's most recent ACGME-I accreditations include pediatric surgery, pediatric radiology, pediatric nephrology, neonatal and perinatal medicine.
Sidra has previously obtained ACGME-I accreditations for pediatric lung disease, pediatric cardiology, pediatric neurology, and child and adolescent mental health.
The accreditation process for the new fellowship programs included conducting a comprehensive evaluation of Sidra Medicine and exploring its academic and administrative effectiveness with a special focus on the robustness of its internal quality assurance system.
The accreditation also includes policies and practices and how they affect the quality of all medical programs offered by the Health Care Corporation.
Professor Ibrahim Al-Janahi, Head of the Medical Education Department at Sidra Medicine, said: “ACGME-I uses a comprehensive peer review process not only to evaluate, but also to develop sponsoring programs and institutions and acknowledge their ability to deliver medical education to graduates in a manner that meets - and often exceeds - educational quality standards.”

Our programs will continue to build on our academic credibility in order to cement our position as a leading teaching hospital in the region,” he added.
