2300 Qatar Companies Now Recruiting...
More than 2,300 companies have registered with the Qatar Chamber (QC)’s online recruitment platform that seeks to help employees who have lost jobs and private-sector firms looking for skilled hands to find each other.
The platform, which can be accessed through the Qatar Chamber’s website, is the only official online platform that facilitates labour recruitment in Qatar, its Director General Saleh Hamad Al Sharqi said.
Other portals that serve similar purposes do it unofficially, he added while addressing a webinar held to review the progress of the QC platform.
The webinar was hosted by a joint-committee of the Qatar Chamber and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA).
The ministry and the chamber would soon sign an agreement to “regulate the work” of the platform, which has been “officially approved”, Sharqi noted.
He called on companies in Qatar to make use of the platform as its services are free, and it is supported by the chamber and the MADLSA.
Although the platform was launched as the COVID-19 outbreak started manifesting its impact on jobs and businesses in Qatar, Sharqi said it was not a temporary facility and would continue to help companies and employees even after the effects of the pandemic have subsided.
When the platform was initially launched, Qatar Chamber had allowed only the companies to enter the details of the employees they let go.
Sharqi said the platform now allows employees looking for jobs to login into the platform and upload their data and resumes.
The procedures for contracting with labourers are governed by the laws of Qatar and supervised by MADLSA, he said, noting that the platform would be promoted in many languages to extend its reach among labourers.
Besides Sharqi, MADLSA assistant undersecretary for Labour Affairs Mohamed Hassan Al Obaidli also addressed the webinar.
Obaidli said the platform was an important initiative by the chamber and would go a long way in offsetting the damages triggered by the pandemic in the jobs market.
The webinar was attended by several members of the committee, including Assistant Director-General for Government Relations and Committee Affairs Ali Busharbak Al Mansuri, Director of Legal Affairs Abdel Aziz Al Kawari, Director of Member Affairs Anoud Al Muhannadi, Legal Research’s Hamad Ali Muaiqal Al-Mari, Director of Employment Administration at MADLSA Fawaz Mohamed Al Rayyes, Director of Labour Relations Department Abdullah Mubarak Al-Dosari, Director of Labour Inspection Department Fahad Zafer Al Dosari and Committee reporter Mohamed Juma Al Kawari.
In the meeting, attendees agreed on the Committee's working mechanism and to hold its meetings on a monthly basis, as well as discussing all issues relating to the employment platform issues concerning private sector companies related to the work of the ministry.
