According to a senior official in the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) some 60% of the eligible population in Qatar will get vaccinated against Covid-19 in Qatar within two months by continuing the current pace
"Once vaccination reaches 80% of the eligible population, life could return to normal," Dr Soha al-Bayat, head of Vaccination at the MoPH, told local Arabic daily Arrayah.
The total number of vaccine doses administered so far has exceeded 1.2mn. She stated it should not be overlooked as there are people in age groups that do not get the vaccine.
Dr. Al-Bayat said that, "Persons under 16 years of age are a large proportion of the country's population. Qatar is closely following the ongoing research to examine the possibility of vaccinating children against Covid-19, and all other research related to the pandemic."
Dr al-Bayat highlighted that over 25,000 eligible individuals in the country are receiving vaccinations each day. More than 84,666 doses have been given at the Lusail (60,129) and Al Wakra (24,537) drive-through facilities.
The official also added the significance of working to carry out the preventive measures announced last week, emphasising the vitality of co-operation with authorities and officials to overcome the ongoing challenges especially in the surge of high infection rate due to coronavirus.
