People over 60 years of age have been urged by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to call the designated hotline number 40277077 to schedule an appointment and get vaccinated against COVID-19. The hotline is currently available from 7 am to 11 pm.

The Ministry has highlighted that there is a greatly elevated risk of serious problems related to COVID-19 in people over 60 years of age. The number of new regular COVID-19 diseases, hospital, and ICU admissions has steadily and continuously risen in Qatar lately.

Yesterday, the Ministry announced 465 new COVID-19 cases and there are reportedly 9,684 active cases under care. Of these, 13 were admitted to critical condition yesterday, and 99 are now seeking medical care in the ICU. A new hotline number has recently been enabled by the Primary Health Care Company (PHCC) to allow people who are 60 years and older to book, cancel or plan pre-booked vaccination appointments. This number would only be available at this point to the elderly priority community.

The public is now urged to register their willingness to receive the vaccine online for COVID-19. In Qatar, people are getting the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines. Three of its health centres in Al Wajba, Lebaib, and Thumama distribute the new COVID-19 vaccine. Patients booked for vaccination appointments at Al Wajba, Lebaib, and Thumama health centres will only receive either Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech.
