866 Field Visits to Food Facilities in the Municipality of Umm Salal

During last May, the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department in the Municipality of Umm Salal carried out 866 field visits to food facilities.

As a result, 20 violation reports were filed pursuant the provisions of Law No. 8 of 1990 concerning the regulation of human food control, and 2 administrative closure decisions were issued to food facilities for a period of 7 days due to their breach of health requirements.

Moreover, the Section received (14) complaints, which were handled and dealt with on the spot. These visits also involved the civil and government slaughterhouses, through which (7721) carcasses were examined and (21) were damaged being unsuitable for human consumption.

 

 

 

Recently, raid yields stockpile of expired food items and the violating warehouse in Umm Salal was ordered to be closed immediately. Several boxes of expired food items were seized by authorities at a warehouse in Umm Salal on Thursday.

Located in one of the farms within the municipality, the warehouse was immediately closed and the necessary legal measures have been taken against its management.

The raid was carried out by the Farm Violations Work Team at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in cooperation with the Municipality of Umm Salal. It was the latest of a series of inspections the Farm Violations Work Team has been carrying as part of a campaign to control violations of municipal laws.

The food items seized from the warehouse were displayed and stored in unhealthy conditions, in contravention of the provisions of Law No. 8 of 1990.
