Al Rayyan Municipality and Ashghal to set up five parks in two years
The parks will have thousands of trees and plants with facilities like restaurants, fitness equipment for adults, jogging and cycling lanes, play areas for kids, including those for children with special needs.
 
The Al Rayyan Municipality has joined hands with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) to set up five parks within two years and the proposed parks include the under construction Umm Al Saneem and Al Gharrafa parks, Al Rayyan.
 
This was announced by the Municipality's Public Services and Municipal Control Department Director Saleh Hamad al-Hadwan to the local Arabic media.
 
Besides this elaborate project, plans are afoot in co-operation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications to build special pedestrian and cycle  paths within various areas of the municipality to encourage healthier lifestyles among the residents and visitors, al-Hadwan explained.
 
The parks will have thousands of trees and plants with facilities like restaurants, fitness equipment for adults, jogging and cycling lanes play areas for kids, including those for children with special needs and all of this set in the middle of vast green spacious outdoor areas.
 
Planting of tress like the wild Ghaff, Samar and Sidra, will help in controlling the effects of winds and dust and thus reduce temperature and air pollution in the city.
 
According to Ashghal's website, the proposed construction of Al Gharrafa and Umm Al Saneem parks is expected to be completed within the fourth quarter of 2021.
 
The Umm Al Seneem Park is located at Hayr Al Zahra Street and Waab Lebarg Street in Umm Al Seneem with an area of about 130,000 square meters and will include many facilities for visitors of all ages set within a pleasant and distinct green environment. 
 
The park will also include 102,000sqm green arena, 740 trees, 1,200m pedestrian and bicycle paths and 378 car parking slots.
 
On the other hand, the Al Gharrafa Park, located at Umm Al Zuber Street in Al Gharrafa will be constructed on an area of about 50,000sqm with distinct features that include a green arena of 36,000sqm, 307 trees, 650 m long pedestrian and bicycle paths and 208 car parking lots.
 
As mentioned, the five parks are expected to be completed within two years from the date of commencement.
