Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC)’s Ambulance Service has constantly provided a smooth and hassle-free services during the holidays of Eid Al-Fitr. The Ambulance Service ensured that hundreds of patients, received their appropriate treatments some of whom were airlifted, even during the holidays.
During these holidays, the transportation Service by HMC increased its round-the-clock readiness to make sure that efficient response is made to all potential emergencies. This also consist of the strategic distribution and dynamic deployment of resources on significant roads and areas based on historical data and call and location pattern analysis.
Between the dates May 13 and May 15, the Ambulance Service transported 2,131 patients. Among them, 1,698 had medical emergencies, while eight individuals were air lifted by Lifeflights.
Between the time 5pm on Thursday and 5pm on Friday, the Service received 721 calls while it received 671 calls between 5pm on Wednesday and 5pm on Thursday.
Ali Darwish, Assistant Executive Director of the Ambulance Service, said most of the people calls to the Ambulance Service number 999 due to light to moderate cases and no critical or acute cases were reported. He also stated that the patients who were evacuated by air were outside Doha in the North, South and West sides.
During an interview with Qatar TV, speaking on the Services provided by HMC’s Ambulance during the Eid holidays, Darwish said that uninterrupted services were given to transport COVID-19 and non-COVID patients.
He mentioned that the service increases the number of vehicles during Eid to promptly respond to all the cases, which are usually higher during the holidays.
He highlighted that although there are limitations on gatherings and there were no major events during Eid Al-Fitr, the Ambulance Service was all set to respond to any circumstances or situations in the country.
Darwish also reminded the public about the importance of giving clear information to the dispatcher including the nature of the emergency and the exact location, follow the operator’s instructions about how to behave at the sight of the emergency and what to do till help arrives.
Callers should pay attention to any questions asked by the operator and answer them as accurately as possible.
