The developments of the Environment Street and Jelaiah Intersection was upgraded as the Public Works Authority ‘Ashgal’ announces its accomplishment.

The completed intersections are now available to traffic, as part of the project for Road Improvement Works for roads, junctions and roundabouts in Doha, ninth stage.

At this point, Eng. Ali Sami Jamal, Project Engineer in Doha Section in the Roads Projects department of Ashgal mentioned about the significance of the works that were upgraded to make a progress by limiting the heavy traffic and to increase the priority of traffic safety on the roads, mainly after the Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor and particularly Umm Lekhba Interchange became open to the public.

The finished works in these interchanges has been a vital part of travel as it provides the ingress to service facilities on the street, and they have a direct connection to the recurrent Al Kharfji street along with Jasim bin Hamad Street.

Eng. Al Sami Jamal also expounded that the developments of the completed works on both intersections played a major role in reducing the traffic congestion in the area, while the goal of their work was to ameliorate the traffic flow and expand the capacity of the vehicles.

Eng. Jamal further added that with the launching of the rehabilitation and support for local manufacturers by the Public Works Authority on August 2017, they mostly depended on the project’s work. Qatari local resources were primarily relying on materials and elements like gabbro, asphalt, and interlock, where the Qatari local component reached 100% of the project.

As the developments of the two intersections were completed, the project’s scope for its works also had a total 1.8 km of road works, including the new ingress on Jasim bin Hamad Street heading right towards Khafji street. As part of implementing this significant project, polishing the entire street was done to ensure the safety of the travellers.
