Ashghal, Qatar’s Public Works Authority, has been contributing to the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020. The Authority’s significant contributions include setting up of roads along with cycle and pedestrian paths to stadiums, linking them with metro stations and improving the basic infrastructure.

Ashghal in a tweet stated that nine key highways and main roads will serve the fans coming from various areas, connecting them to stadiums with the main landmarks. The important roads include Dukhan Road, Khalifa Avenue, Al Rayyan Road, Al Majd Road, and Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, blessing Al Rayyan and Education City stadium with better connectivity.

With a network of highways, offering free traffic flow, Ashgal is ensuring access to Al Rayyan stadium from all sides. Ashghal has been focusing on improving local roads to safeguard the direct fast connection with the vital places, including Al Riffa Metro, Mall of Qatar, Al Riffa Celebration Hall Complex, and Al Rayyan Sports Club.

Ashghal has been working on improving the infrastructure of the area, by harnessing storm water and surface water drainage networks.

Recently, Ashghal wrapped up its works on developing local roads leading to Al Rayyan Stadium, opening these to people. The work included developing roads leading to the stadium with a total length of about 5km, with two lanes running in each direction.

Ashghal has developed pedestrian paths with a length of 10km along with cycle paths, with a length of 513m, as well as running paths with a length of 513m.

Dedicated parking slots for “Park and Ride” cars, connecting Al Riffa station with the Al Rayyan stadium have been developed.

Entrances and exits have been set up to provide direct connections with main roads, leading to the Al Rayyan stadium and parking lots for public transport.

The team has also constructed a deep trunk sewer extending from Al Rayyan Stadium to Al Shamal Road, to collect and discharge foul flows to Pumping Station 70 at Al-Ebb and Leabaib. The sewage will be pumped into the treatment plant in Umm Sal Municipality.
