Asian Cup qualifiers: Qatar sets to face India in the next group match

The defending Asian cup champions Qatar will play against India in Group E match on June 3 as the joint 2022 FIFA World Cup 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers resume early next month, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced yesterday. 
The match will be held at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium with kick off scheduled for 8:00pm. Al Annabi’s other group game, which will be played against Oman is scheduled on June 7 at the same venue. 
Along with these matches, Qatar will also organise all the remaining Group E matches after being picked by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as a centralised venue amids the current COVID-19 pandemic. 
Coached by Felix Sanchez, Qatar team are leading Group E with 16 points from six games played followed by Oman with 12 points from their five matches played and Afghanistan with 4 points in the group. India is in the fourth position with 3 points while Bangladesh remains on the bottom of the group a single point.
Sanchez earlier this week announced a 27-member squad for the remaining matches to be played. The squad also includes star striker Akram Afif, who missed few weeks of action due to an injury.
