Authorities thwart smuggling attempt of cannabis

The Maritime Customs Administration at Ruwais Port thwarted a smuggling attempt of cannabis into the country.

The contraband that weighs 4.2kg, was found hidden inside the engine of a refrigerated truck carrying a shipment of vegetables.

The contraband was detected in joint efforts by the Police Canine Section in the Ministry of Interior and Qatar Customs authorities.

The officials have been constantly issuing warnings against carrying illegal substances into the region.

All the officers in the customs department are given all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods used by smugglers.
