As the cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) are subsequently declining with the restrictions imposed in the country, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that the prayers will commence ten minutes later to azan (call for prayer), increasing the waiting period from 5 minutes to ten.
The ministry said on Fridays, the mosques will be opened to the public 20 minutes prior to second azan.
This statement had come today in a fresh circular issued by the Mosques Management Department to Imams and Muezzins.
The department circular read: “You are requested to follow preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.”
However, the precautionary measures must still be followed by all the worshippers such as bringing a personal prayer mat, wearing face masks at all times, providing green status on Ehteraz application, and adhering physical distancing during prayers.
