The time between adhan and iqama for Fajr and Asr prayers will be 20 minutes from Wednesday, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has said.

Adhan is the first call to prayer and iqama is the second call given just  before the prayer. 

“Starting from fajr prayer tomorrow (September 16, 2020), the time between the call to prayer and the iqamah for fajr and asr prayers in the mosques will be 20 minutes,” the ministry said in a tweet on Tuesday.

The Department of Mosques at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs had instructed in the beginning of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Qatar to reduce the waiting time between the call to prayer and prayer to five minutes for all prayers as part of preventive measures.
