Awqaf’s 2nd edition of food kit distribution scheme to benefit thousands

The second edition of the food kit distribution, an initiative launched by the General Administration of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs is expected to benefit some 1500 families and 2500 employers.
 
This project by Awqaf is carried out by jointly working with Hifz Al Naema Centre, a Qatari food-saving social organisation.
Launching of this project was first announced during a press conference attended by Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Ghanem al-Thani, General Administration of Endowments director-general; Saad bin Omran al-Kuwari, General Administration of Endowments assistant director-general, and Yusuf bin Abdullah al-Khulaifi, Hifz Al Naema Centre Public Relations officer.
 
Dr Sheikh Khalid stated the scheme is one of the "pioneering initiatives" launched by the General Awqaf in 2020 with the onset of the Covid-19 epidemic by working together with Hifz Al Naema Centre to provide food baskets to families and workers who are in need.
The project has been launched in support of the "endowment bank for righteousness and piety", he said, and conveyed his gratitude and thanks to all who have worked for the project's success.
 
Al-Khulaifi also expressed his gratitude to the General Administration of Endowments for carrying out this initiative, and mentioned that this joint work and efforts comes for the second year under unprecedented times.
He also called out all to participate in the initiative and contribute through various methods of endowment.
According to a press statement, the project and its accompanying campaign stem from the belief of the General Administration of Endowments in promoting the culture of giving and spreading the spirit of humanity among different segments of society and the participation of needy families and workers group during Ramadan.
The number of kits will vary depending the number of family members and offers all the requirements during the holy month of Ramadan
Online endowments using a bank card through the General Administration of Endowments can be made through awqaf.gov.qa/atm while an SMS service is available at awqaf.gov.qa/sms. Fast collection is available at 55199996 and 55199990 while the hotline is 66011160.
