Awqaf’s Zakat fund launches zakat calculator service

Zakat Fund, which is operated by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has launched zakat calculator service. The new service will give the users the ability to calculate zakat amount in their cash, shares, gold and silver under few seconds.
The announcement of this service has been shared by the Zakat Fund on its official Twitter account. For calculating zakat in cash, the user is needed to first choose Islamic or Gregorian calendar and then put the amount they want to give to zakat.
Name of organisation and number of shares are also essential to calculate zakat in shares. To calculate zakat in gold and silver, the users is required to put weight of gold and silvers in grams. The new service of Zakat Fund not only benefits in calculating zakat but it also gives the option to users to contribute their zakat amount to the fund by doing an online transaction.
The calculator service has been launched in the holy month of Ramadan where most of people prefer to give zakat. As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, zakat is a religious duty for all Muslims who meet the eligibility criteria of wealth to help the people in need. Zakat funds zakat from donors and provides it to those eligible and needy people.
 
Zakat Fund also has contributed financial support worth more than QR12.6m in February 2021. A total of 1,250 families in need were benefited from the financial support in the country. More than QR7.4m were given as regular monthly support to the beneficiaries. At one point, financial support amounted more than QR2.4m and over QR2.5m were given for paying school fees to the students of families in need.
Zakat Fund is receiving requests for financial support – permanent, urgent, one time or others via its e-mail help@zakat.gov.qa following COVID-19 preventive and precautionary measures. Zakat Fund offers support to the poor families after assessing their requests in a bid to reach zakat money to the most vulnerable people. Donors can contribute zakat to Zakat Fund via its zakat collection points set up across Qatar. Zakat is a religious obligation for Muslims and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
