Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.
Following the meeting, Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi issued the following statement.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet praised Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s speech at the main session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2021) held last Friday in St. Petersburg in the Russian Federation, as well as the important implications of the speech, whether in terms of Qatari-Russian relations or in the field of international cooperation and finding effective solutions to common economic challenges, especially in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its serious negative repercussions on the global economy.
The Cabinet also praised H H the Amir’s important intervention in the forum’s discussion session and the visions and ideas he presented in the fields of the future of energy, environmental protection, sports, and H H the Amir’s vision around the world after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cabinet affirmed that the participation of H H the Amir in the forum, at the invitation of President of the Russian Federation H E Vladimir Putin, and the selection of the State of Qatar as the guest country in it, and its wide, distinguished and high-level participation in its work, and the agreements and memoranda of understanding that were signed during it, have reflected the depth of the relations of the two countries and strengthened the strategic partnership between them, which opens new horizons for the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.
The Cabinet was then briefed by H E Minister of Public Health on the latest developments in efforts to curb COVID-19. The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of work with the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic.
The Cabinet took the necessary measures to issue a draft law on mediation in settling civil and commercial disputes, after the Cabinet reviewed the recommendation of the Shura Council on the draft law.
It also gave approval of a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation and integration in the field of earthquakes and geophysics between the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Cabinet reviewed the memorandum of H E Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs on some of the Ministry’s recommendations regarding the results of the 340th session of the International Labor Organization Board of Directors, and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
