CHSSA organises workshop titled ‘Donate Blood, Save lives’

Qatar University’s (QU) College of Health Sciences Student Association (CHSSA) recently organised a virtual workshop with a title ‘Donate Blood, Save Lives’.
The virtual workshop was moderated by Dr. Sapha Shibeeb, an Associate Professor from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at QU. He discussed the significance of blood donation and its role in society. 
He also expounded on the various concepts on blood banks and how to donate them, separating blood products and the preparation from the donor to the recipient, and the vitality of proper blood storage.  
The attendees shared and put forward numerous questions and enquiries regarding blood donation. 
 
The CHSSA plays a vital role in spreading awareness among members of the community. The CHSSA composed a video in partnership with HMC Blood Donor Center to elucidate the correct process for donating blood and familiarising the latest analysers in blood donor centres to test blood and making sure that the absence of infectious diseases in blood products. 
These efforts are an alternative solution to the annual awareness trips halted in light of the ongoing crisis due to the epidemic caused by Covid-19.
Jawaher Al Emadi, President of CHSSA, conveyed her gratitude for the success of the virtual workshop and thanked all the attendees who took part in this workshop who contributed in running this workshop smoothly. 
She also expressed her thanks and appreciation to HMC Blood Donor Center for their attendance in the successful delivery of this workshop through their valuable cooperation. Al Emadi showed her gratitude to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Dr. Hanan Abdul Rahim, for her immense support. Through this virtual workshop, CHSSA look forward in spreading awareness in a manner that protects the safety and health of each student. CHSSA also strives to find alternative solutions that are suitable for unusual circumstances.
