Cleaning of Fuwairet Beach in tandem with Turtle Hatching Season

In cooperation with the Department of Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves, and Wildlife, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by Beaches and Islands Division- North Operations Teams of General Cleanliness Department conducted a cleaning campaign in Fuwairet Beach, in parallel with the beginning of the turtle hatching season.

During this campaign, 2 tons of various types of residues were collected and removed.

 

 

 

It is worth mentioning that the hatching season of this year commenced on Monday, corresponding to the day of 8 June; since it was recorded that baby turtle hatchlings came out of nest No. 1 and 54 hatchlings were released into the sea.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Department of Protection and Wildlife announced the registration of the first case of hatching of endangered hawksbill turtle nests in Fuwairet Beach.

Members of the project team recorded the required data and released (54) young turtles to the sea, amid all precautions that guarantees of the safety of the project team.

The number of nests transported to the protected site at Fuwirt Beach reached (118) nests.
