Climate Change Department participates in Carbon Taxes. Pricing Policies Workshop

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Climate Change Department, has participated in a virtual workshop on carbon taxes and carbon pricing application policies in both developed and developing countries. The workshop was organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in partnership with the Subcommittee on Environmental Taxation Issues, World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

The workshop was held for two days (30 November - 01 December), during which several models of countries implementing carbon taxes, were presented, including Canada, South Africa and Colombia.

 

Details of this mechanism were discussed, along with its importance and relationship to the Paris Agreement of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
