Cost of Living in Qatar declines in May

Based on consumer price index (CPI), Qatar's cost of living was decreased in May 2019. The cost for 500 items were  decreased during Ramadan.

According to the image  released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) the nation  witnessed a 0.66% and 0.56% decline in inflation both  yearly and monthly basis.

Weightage of 12.58% Food and beverages in the CPI basket, witnessed  a 2.13% plunge in May 2019.

In view of Ramadan, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in co-operation with major shopping malls, had undertaken an initiative to offer discount prices that covered basic commodities consumed.

The index of Clothing and Footwear, which has 5.11% in the CPI crate, shrank 2.36% on a month to month premise however saw a 0.61% jump yearly basis in May 2019.

 The index of Housing, water, power and different fuels — with a weightage of 21.89% in the CPI container — saw a 0.56% and 2.18% decrease monthly h and yearly basis in May 2019. 

May 2019  the CPI of Except “water, housing, electricity, gas & other oils  showed a decline of  0.56% and 0.23% year-on-year in May  2019.

Various Goods and Services, weightage of 5.69%, saw its index fall 0.16% and 0.88% on monthly and yearly basis in May2019. 

The Restaurants and Hotels, weightage of 6.08%, was down 0.1% on month to month premise a 0.35% jump on on yearly premise in may 2019. 

In any case, the Transport, which has 14.59% weightage, saw its group index surge 1.82% and 1.56% on monthly & yearly premise this May.
