Doha Festival City Partners with The Teal Society to Raise Awareness on Women’s Health

Honouring Pink October, Doha Festival City and The Teal Society launched a joined initiative to raise awareness on Breast Cancer and women health in Qatar

Hosted by Jamie’s Italian, the Women Health Awarness Afternoon Brunch event gathered members from the Teal Society, as well as Doha Festival City’s representatives and members of the media

Doha Festival City, a leading shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Qatar, held an in-mall event dedicated to raising awareness on women health, in collaboration with Qatar’s branch of the Teal Society organization.

As part of the Doha Festival City’s commitment to Qatar’s community, and to reiterate its active role in raising awareness of breast cancer, a global issue that affects all populations, the Mall held a special afternoon brunch in partnership with The Teal Society and hosted by Jamie’ Italian. The event was dedicated to shedding light on women health and the importance of preventive measures to fight against the breast cancer disease. Members of Qatar media, as well as The Teal Society team and representatives from Doha Festival City attended the event.

As part of Doha Festival City’s #FestivalCare and #QatarUnitesUs campaigns, this initiative discussed the importance of early detection, and the crucial role that educating family and friends on women health related issues come into play in the global fight against this disease.

Robert Hall, Doha Festival City’s General Manager, said: “At Doha Festival City, we urge the community to get more familiar with preventative measures, as we believe in the impact that a continued discussion can have on women’s lives”.

The event was held on Thursday afternoon, 15th October, at Jamie’s Italian restaurant where NikkiJean Alexander from The Teal Society gave a special talk on women health issues, shedding light on gyneacological cancer specifically.

The Teal Society is a Los-Angeles-based non-profit organization focusing on all things related to gynaecologial cancer and aiming at building a tightly-women community to support those who are suffering. Founded by Qatar-based behavioural therapist and entrepreneur NickiJean Alexander, The Teal Society made its mark in the Middle East with the launch on 8 March 2020.

Jamie’s Italian is one of the restaurants by the world-famous British chef Jamie Oliver. Jamie’s Italian’s specialty is simple delicious food, created using superbly sourced products. The recipes are inspired by sunny Italy and refined by chef Jamie Oliver in collaboration with Italian chefs.

Doha Festival City opening hours are Saturday to Wednesday from 10am to 10 pm, and Thursday to Friday from 10am to 11pm. Children of all ages are now allowed to enter the mall. In line with the preventative measures set out by the authorities, Doha Festival City has introduced stringent health and safety measures throughout the mall for its staff and visitors. This includes a thorough mall disinfection treatment on a weekly basis, robust cleaning and sanitization operations during mall trading hours, 127 hand sanitizing stations installed in the areas that have commonly touched surfaces.
