The Doha Metro has halted the use of paper tickets to protect the environment, its operator has said.
“We have suspended the use of paper tickets and replaced them with reusable Travel Cards, to promote sustainability,” the Doha Metro said on its Twitter account.
Commissioned into operation in May last year, the 76-kilometre-long metro suspended its service in mid-March as part of precautions to limit the spread of the new coronavirus.
The service resumed in September at 30 per cent of its overall capacity.
