Were you stuck in a traffic jam this morning in Doha?

Today, a number of motorists have been affected by the traffic congestion along Corniche and West Bay roads.

Some of them claimed that road closures during the rush hours in some of the busiest streets in Qatar have led to heavy traffic.

Imtinen Rebhi, an expatriate in Qatar, is one of those who got stranded in the bumper-to-bumper traffic in Doha recently. According to her, traffic crunches lasted for an hour that led people into a frenzy.

The congestion started from the signal between Commercial Bank and Q-Post, towards the West Bay area, Rebhi said. “It  was opened only for one car to access,” she added.

The expat recalled that she was stuck for 50 minutes and noticed that the traffic signal was not opened at all. She believed that the bottleneck also occurred in Al Bidda, Al Hazm, and Al Sadd roads, starting from the Civil Defense and Qatar Sports Club areas.

“We were waiting for so long. Some drivers were already complaining and honking their car horns,” she said.

“My car couldn’t go in reverse as there were other cars behind me, so I was left with no choice but to go straight and wait until the traffic jam was over, ” she furthered.

It took her 10 or more minutes to reach her destination in the Diplomatic street. “I think there were 6 roads that were greatly affected by the traffic congestion this morning,” she disclosed.
