HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi has announced the Ministerial Decision No 20 for 2021 in relation to the annual school calendar for the 2021-22 academic year.
According to the newly announced decision, staff members is expected to come back to schools on August 16, followed by the second-round examinations for the 2020-21 academic year for all classes from1-12, which will be conducted between August 18 and 26.
The first day of the new academic year of 2021-22 for students will commence from August 29, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education said in a statement on Sunday.
The half-year school break is said to begin on 19 December until 30, and the second semester will commence on January 2, 2022.
There will also be a short break from March 13 to 17, 2022, and schools will reopen on March 20.
The academic year for the 2022-23 will begin on August 16, 2022, when students will go back to school, while the staffs will have to return to work on August 14.
Other important dates in the annual school calendar for 2021-22 include the following:
midterm first semester examinations for grades 1-11 (day) from October 10 to 19; end-of-term first semester exams for grades 10, 11 and 12 (day/adult education) from December 1 to 12; end-of-term first semester exams for grades 1-9 (day/adult education) from December 1 to 9; first semester second round exams for grades 1-11 (day/adult education) from January 18 to 27, 2022; second semester midterm exams for grades 10 and 11 (day) from March 1 to 10, 2022; second semester midterm exams for grades 1-9 (day) from March 2 to 10, 2022; exams at the end of the second semester for grades 10, 11 and 12 (day/adult education) from May 29 to June 9, 2022; exams at the end of the second semester for grades 1-9 (day/adult education) from May 31 to June 8, 2022; school staff leave from June 19 to August 11, 2022; and second round exams for grades 1-12 (day/adult education) from June 28 to July 6, 2022.
