Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi approved the results of the General and Specialized Secondary Certificate exams for the 2020/2021 academic year, which were announced on Wednesday in a press conference.
In his speech, His Excellency congratulated the students that obtained high school certificates who studied with good efficiency, despite the exceptional measures imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the successful students of both genders, His Excellency said that their great efforts in order to improve their performance and obtain the highest grades are appreciated, further expressing congratulations to them in their success and wished them all the success to join the most prestigious national and international universities.
HE added that the students have a long career path in university education that requires diligence because Qatar expects many of them to lead national development projects under the wise leadership, which gave education special attention and placed it at the top of its national priorities in pursuit of achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
HE Minister of Education and Higher Education thanked the teachers and administrative bodies in public and private schools, parents and medical staff for their cooperation, which had the greatest impact in strengthening and continuing education as planned throughout the school year, which resulted in the success and efficiency of students' performances in high school exams.
In a press statement, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi congratulated the high school students and their parents on the honorable results they achieved under the exceptional circumstances of the pandemic.
His Excellency stressed that the Ministry has overcome the COVID-19 crisis thanks to the vision and sound planning for the school year and thanks to the digital readiness of public schools, adding that the gains made in education are among the lessons learned and will be built on in the future in order to reach the quality of outputs and efficiency of performance in the education system.
In his statement, HE Dr. Al Nuaimi called on high school students to continue their undergraduate and postgraduate studies and take advantage of the many opportunities and options that the State has provided them in the field of higher education, whether in the national civil and military universities in Qatar, or in the field of scholarships for the most prestigious international universities in order to contribute to building sustainable development for their State.
He also called on parents to invest in the education of their children, motivate and encourage them to continue their university education for a promising future, noting the benefits to the individual, family and society from higher education and in its contribution to achieving the goals and objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, especially the human development pillar, which is the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Concluding his statement, HE expressed pride in this result, which he said is the result of everyone's cooperation and they have overcome many difficulties, the most important of which is how to maintain the health and safety of students while providing them with high quality education at various levels of study, stressing that this honorable result is proof of that.
For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs Khaled Al Harqan, and other senior officials in the evaluation sector at the ministry reviewed the success rates and other educational and indicators for the result of the General Secondary Certificate.
Al Harqan stated that the success rate in the scientific track was 88.48 percent in day schools, and 31.58 percent in adult education , in the Arts and Humanities track it reached 76.06 percent, and 35.72 in adults education, while it reached 83 percent in the technological track and 88.24 percent in the Religious Institute Preparatory Secondary school for Boys.
Whereas, the pass rate in the Qatar Schools of Banking Sciences and Secondary Business Administration reached 100 percent, and in the parallel track in its first year of adult education it reached 42.62 percent.
He mentioned that the total number of students who took these tests of both sexes is 12151 male and female students, pointing out that 18 male and female students achieved the full percentage of "100 percent" in the scientific track, 4 of whom were boys and 14 were girls, and 5548 male and female students achieved 75 percent and above and are eligible for admission to universities or to enter the labor market.
Al Harqan said that 43 male and female students who missed the exams due to the quarantine due to the conditions of the Coronavirus pandemic will have the opportunity to take the exams in the second round, while 1,820 male and female students were not lucky, they will also have the opportunity to apply for the second round at the beginning of the next academic year on Aug. 18, 2021.
He affirmed that the ministry was keen on distance education so that students would not lose their educational attainment, and had created all the conditions to achieve this goal, which was demonstrated by the good results they obtained.
Al Harqan congratulated all the successful and outstanding students, wishing them further excellence in their academic and practical life. He also congratulated the outstanding schools, and praised the efforts of the educational staff in preparing for the examination period, which came in exceptional circumstances.
For his part, Director of Students Information Centre at the ministry of Education and Higher Education Ibrahim Rajab Abdullah al Kuwari, said that students can obtain their certificates starting next Saturday, with 5 copies for each student, signed and sealed by the ministry and it will be extracted only via the ministrys electronic services portal, which is available to all successful students.
In turn, Director of Students Assessment Department Khalifa saad Al Derham, stated that the overall success rate was 85 percent, saying that it is similar to the success rates of previous years.
