EMIR OF QATAR
Head of the state of Qatar, Commander in chief of the Qatar Armed Forces and a guarantor of the Constitution. These are the main roles/duties/privileges of the Emir of Qatar. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is the current Emir of Qatar. He is the fourth son of the previous Emir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He became an Emir in 2013 when Tamim's father handed over the power to him in a television speech. 
 
Sheikh Tamim has done numerous deeds to uplift the position of Qatar in the world and it is a result of his relentless efforts that Qatar is a renowned power in the world today. Hepromoted sport as part of Qatar's bid to raise its international profile. Under his leadership, Qatar bagged the opportunity to host the 2014 FINA Swimming World Championship and 2022 FIFA World Cup. He also heads the Qatar Investment Authority which invested billions in British business and holds a large share in Britain's 4th tallest building, the Shard. Since his accession to power, the government has expanded the roads around the capital, developed a new metro system, and completed the construction of a new airport. The young Amir's transition to power was welcomed by leaders across the world, who expected Tamim to continue the good work in the footsteps of his father and increase Qatar's role in vital international affairs. 
 
Tamim has also held a number of other posts which lead him to where he his today. All those posts were necessary to groom him to take over the rule after his father. And many people believe that if he works with the same tenacity as he's doing now, he will surely lead Qatar on the path of sheer glory and development.
