First girls' technical school exceeds specified 90-student capacity

Students will be given an opportunity to join the labour market right after they graduate.
 
The principal of Qatar Technical Secondary School for Girls – Mrs Naima Al Noby has said that the administrative and academic staff is proud of the opening of the first technical school for girls in Qatar.  
 
 
In a press release posted on the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoHE) website the principal remarked, that this is happening amidst the growing importance of technical and vocational education as a key driver of economic growth and comprehensive development.
 
All concerned parties worked together to finalize the procedures of opening the new school as per the operational plan. Online enrolment has been made available on 16 August, and will run through 3 September 2020, she added.
 
Talking about the enrolment rate, Mrs. Naima pointed out that the number of students applying to the school exceeded the 90-student capacity specified for the first academic year. All students had to attend an interview and assessment test as of August 27th prior to acceptance.
 
She stressed that all precautionary measures were taken during the interviews to ensure the health and safety of students. An organizing committee received parents and students to check on the EHTERAZ app, measure their temperature and direct them to the designated venue for interviews and assessment tests.
 
In addition, the school technical staff will undergo training by the Australian institution early next month. This will qualify them to deliver theoretical and practical lessons as part of the technical subjects in each discipline.
 
On a daily basis, the school management answers questions from parents and students regarding the technical majors, curriculum and future opportunities.
 
Talking about certificates, Mrs. Naima stressed that girls specializing in 'Laboratory Technician' and 'Electronics and Communications' will earn Australia's International TAFE Certificate II in addition to the high school certificate.
 
Students will have the opportunity to join the labor market right after they graduate. For example, girls specializing in Laboratory Technician can work in the energy, industry, environment, health, civil and military sectors, among others.
 
Graduates of the Electronics and Communications discipline can seek jobs in a variety of relevant sectors and organizations, including factories and companies.
 
Girls majoring in Information Technology will earn the Microsoft Office Applications Specialist certification and the Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification, along with the high school certificate.
 
Upon graduation, they can pursue their careers in various IT fields. They can also continue their studies in technical colleges, including College of the North Atlantic and Community College.
