Global praise for Qatar's Role in Improving Status of Women in the World

Senior officials from the United Nations, Austria and other countries praised the role of the State of Qatar and its generous contributions in improving the status of women in the world, and in launching the first distinguished global program to empower women to promote justice and rule of law in Latin America.
This came during the launch of the " Womens Empowerment Programme (WEP) ", in cooperation with the UNODC and the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens.
Former Austrian President and Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens Co-chair Heinz Fischer said in his speech that without the generous donation of the State of Qatar, it would not have been possible to launch this ambitious global program devoted to supporting women, especially the strengthening of the role of young women leaders in Latin America in educational activities for the purpose of achieving legal justice.
the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Dr. Ghada Wali expressed the gratitude of the United Nations for the contribution of the State of Qatar in the establishment of this program, especially with regard to the implementation of the global program of the Doha Declaration that supports women and focuses on preventing crime in all its forms among young people, ensuring the integrity of the judiciary and launching the Education for Justice initiative.
HE Austrian Minister of Justice Dr. Alma Zadic and the Ambassador of Cuba and the Representative of Cuba to the United Nations (Vienna) Loipa Sanchez Lorenzo praised what Qatar had presented in order to strengthen the role of women in the world and their involvement in various areas of life to enable them to enhance Justice, rule of law, and the achievement of sustainable development goals, especially with regard to financing the global program for supporting young leaders in Latin America.
For his part, Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN in Vienna affirmed Qatar's firm commitment to the cause of empowering women and improving their political, social, economic and health status, adding that this is a matter of utmost importance for the establishment of a peaceful and prosperous society in a way that achieves the goals of sustainable development.
The Qatar National Vision 2030 aims to create a safe and stable Qatari society that works on the principles of justice, equality and the rule of law, and to enhance the capabilities of women and enable them to fully participate in the political and economic fields, especially in decision-making roles where the Qatari leadership has allowed to speed up procedures and enact legislation that empowers women, the Ambassador stated, pointing out that HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser took the lead in presenting regional and international initiatives for the advancement of women's rights in the country.
