GWC (Q.P.S.C), the leading logistics provider in Qatar, organised a virtual spotlight events to raise the awareness of climate change issues among its employees through various activities for Earth Hour 2021, in addition to demonstrating proper methods and essential measures in order to maximise the potential of sustainable energy at homes and in the workplace.
During the events, the employees shared suggestions on how the nature can be preserved and the numerous environmental initiatives that could take part for a better and improvised future. The initiative to support Earth Hour comes under the framework of the company’s constant support and participation in the annual event, where lights are turned off in all its office and logistics facilities one hour, today (Saturday) at 8:30pm local time.
By taking part in this virtual event, the company shows its dedication to its environmental duty while highlighting the care it provides for all its employees, clients and stakeholders.
GWC Director of Marketing and Communications Jawaher Al Khuzaei during the event said that, “Earth Hour is a reminder that small changes can achieve great results. This is not just about turning the lights off for one hour, but rather spreading the awareness for generations to come.”
GWC invests in several active and passive measures for more sustainable operations, including paperless processes, vehicle route optimisation, reduce-reuserecycle initiatives, energy conservation (including natural or energy saving light initiatives), and resource consumption optimization.

GWC’s international quality standards, which includes the ISO 14001:2015 for Environment Management Systems, hold sustainability at its core, and most recently; GWC’ Regional Logistics Hub in Ras Bufontas Free Zone was enhanced according to the GSAS1 standard.
Jawaher also added that, “sustainability is one of Qatar’s core objectives, most clearly through a commitment to hold the most sustainable edition of the FIFA World Cup, and by establishing it as a pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030. As the Official Logistics Provider for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and with the national vision an integral part of our purpose, GWC renews its commitments to achieving these goals.”
