HH the Amir congratulates Antonio Guterres for being re-appointed as UN's secretary-general

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in a tweet from his official account congratulated Antonio Guterres for being elected one more time as Secretary-General of the United Nations for the period of next 5 years.

Amir wished the secretary-general all success and further progress in achieving its goal in sustainable development and maintaining peace and security in the world

Guterres was elected unanimously by the UN General Assembly to serve for a second term at the helm of the 193-member organization.

Being the only candidate for the U.N’s top position, Guterres expressed his happiness by saying that he was “humbled and energized” by the support of the world’s nations and said the “driving theme” of his second term in office will be “prevention in all its aspects – from conflicts, climate change, pandemics to poverty and inequality.”
