HH the Amir Holds Talks Session with President of Congo

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and African Union Chairperson Felix Tshisekedi held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Monday.

The session dealt with bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them, especially in the fields of investment, economy, maritime and air transport and infrastructure, in addition to ways to enhance and develop cooperation between the State of Qatar and the African Union.

During the session, views were exchanged on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

After the talks, HH the Amir and HE the President witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the governments of the two countries, such as the signing of an agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments, a general agreement for economic and commercial cooperation, an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of financial evasion, an agreement in the field of maritime transport, in addition to an agreement on air services. The two sides also signed a memorandums of understanding for the development and modernization of maritime infrastructure, a memorandum of understanding between the governments of the State of Qatar and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a memorandum of understanding in the field of civil aviation and meteorology, and a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Airways and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

 

The session was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers.

Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HE the President also attended the session.

HE the President arrived at the Amiri Diwan earlier, where an official reception ceremony was held for His Excellency.
