His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received on Wednesday at his office at the Amiri Diwan with HE Minister of Defense of the Italian Republic Lorenzo Guerini, and the accompanying delegation, on the occasion of their visit to the country.

At the beginning of the meeting, HE the Minister of Defense conveyed the thanks of HE President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and his appreciation to HH The Amir for the State of Qatar's support for Italy during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as Qatar was one of the first countries that provided medical aid.

During the meeting, they reviewed joint cooperation relations between the two countries and means of supporting them, in addition to the most prominent regional and international developments.

HE Minister of Defense of the Italian Republic Lorenzo Guerini is an Italian politician and member of the Democratic Party. Guerini has been serving as Minister of Defence in the Conte II Cabinet since 5 September 2019.

In March 2014, he was appointed by the Secretary of the Democratic Party, Matteo Renzi, Deputy Secretary along with Debora Serracchiani, a position that he held until May 2017. From 2005 to 2012 he served as Mayor of Lodi, his hometown.
