HMC and Qatar Museums celebrate Garangao with 'Stay Home and Be Safe' campaign

Qatar Museums (QM) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) celebrate this year's Garangao by launching "Stay Home and Be Safe" campaign. They are inviting families in Qatar to observe this Ramadan tradition that is widely celebrated by children in Islamic countries.

During the festivity, children traditionally wander during the night in the neighborhoods and sing traditional songs that mark the occasion and receive gifts and sweets from their families and friends.

The campaign is part of the ongoing partnership between Qatar Museums and the Hamad Medical Corporation with the aim of encouraging families to maintain a safe social distance while celebrating in the same traditional way by sharing photos of children in Garangao dresses.

The submitted photos will be published on the Instagram account of QM and HMC, to show the joy and happiness of children during the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative supports the Ministry of Public Health, HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation in their efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), with the aim of encouraging social responsibility by urging the community to stay at home.

It is also eyeing to enhance virtual connections between families and friends, allowing the tradition of Garangao to be preserved and celebrated amid the pandemic.

Families who would like to submit their children’s photos can send them via direct message to Qatar Museums’ Instagram account (@qatar_museums).
