International Bureau of Exhibitions Discusses Qatar's Preparations for Expo 2023

Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Khouri, Secretary General of Expo 2023-Doha, participated this morning (Wednesday) at the executive committee of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE).

in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Ali bin Jassim bin Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to the French Republic.

During the meeting, Dr. Fayeka Ashkanani gave a video presentation showing the progress of Qatar's preparations to host the Expo. Then the Secretary-General and H.E. the Ambassador of Qatar replied to questions about reasons for which the date was postponed to 2023, and the date of the site's readiness to enable countries to build their pavilions. He indicated that the High Committee is currently working to review the strategic plan and reformulate it to suit the current circumstances.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Khoury stressed the keenness and readiness of the State of Qatar, as usual in hosting international events, to organize an international exhibition to the highest standards and to take all precautions and preventive measures against Covid-19, both in the construction phase and in the hosting and operation phase.

 

At the end of the meeting, the approval of the International Bureau of Exhibitions for new dates in hosting the Expo was granted and the file was transferred to the General Assembly, which will in turn ratify the approval at its next meeting on December 1, 2020.
