  1. Monitoring and inspecting food imported and exported across the border ports, ensuring its safety and suitability for human consumption, and monitoring its radiation levels.
  2. Preventing entry of adulterated food and supervising re-exports operations.
  3. Destroying food that do not comply with the conditions or requirements or which is unfit for human consumption.
  4. Checking health certificates of imported food, and issuing certificates for exported or conforming re-exported foods.
  5. Collecting samples of imported foods which enter the country for the first time, as well as collecting samples periodically.
  6. Applying the ban on food coming from infected areas.
  7. Guiding food importers to specifications required for imported foodstuffs as stated in  standard specifications and technical regulations before performing the import.
  8. Providing advice related to foods which importers wish to import and determining their conformity to specifications. This is done when an importer wishes to be guided by the opinion of the Ports Health and Food Control Section.
