Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), through the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), has announced the establishment of the charging station No. 19, which has been operated and installed for charging the electric cars at Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), on Thursday (June 24).

“We are glad of this cooperation between Kahramaa and Katara. This is the nineteenth station we have installed, which is the fastest charger for electric vehicles in the State of Qatar with a capacity of 180 KW and with a direct current system that has the ability to fully charge a car in less than 10 minutes,” Eng Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, Kahramaa President, said.

It is worth mentioning that Kahramaa is about to finish the awarding a general tender of installation and operation of 100 electric charging stations around the State of Qatar. This award is the basis of the first infrastructure for charging electric vehicles in the State, where 100 charging stations will be installed and operated at vital locations such as intersections, shopping malls, government buildings, hotels, as well as many parking at Metro Rail stations during the year 2021. The stations’ capacities vary according to the locations, specifications and standards set by Kahramaa for electric charging in the country.
