Karwa buses to restart charging commuters from Jan 10

Starting from January 10, there won’t be any free rides on Karwa buses as the company will start charging commuters for travel again.

The Karwa bus services will start customers again from next Sunday (Jan 10) onward, the Mowasalat said in a notification on Karwa Bus app Sunday.

The notification said the Karwa Smartcards 24 hours limited and unlimited will not be sold through merchants or the bus drivers anymore. Instead, the commuters can purchase the 24 hours unlimited QR Code Ticket through the Karwa Bus App. The rechargeable Karwa Smartcard will still be valid and can be used as usual, the notification said.

Karwa was offering free rides to passengers after they restarted public bus service with 30 percent capacity as part of the Phase 4 of gradual lifting of Covid-19 curbs on public transit system on September 1.

“You can conveniently purchase the 24 hours unlimited QR Code Ticket through the Karwa Bus App,” they added.
