Katara to Launch First Edition of International Arabian Horse Festival in February

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) to host the first edition of Katara's International Arabian Horse Festival, which will be held from February 2-6, 2021 at Katara Beach.
In remarks, General Manager of Katara and head of the festival organizing committee Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti saidthat the State of Qatar has a heritage in equestrian sports, in addition to the love and appreciation of Qataris for this sport since ancient times and their interest in the ancient Arab breeds of horses, which shows that the idea of this festival is mainly inspired by a large cultural and historical memory of the Qatari society. He also explained that Katara has always organized and presented major international festivals and exhibitions that symbolize the originality of the Qatari heritage which promotes a culture of modernization, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
He explained that what distinguishes this festival, which is scheduled to be held every year, is the holding of the championship title for purebred Arabian horses of the most prestigious international level, stressing that only the best international horse breeds will be eligible to participate in this festival which is scheduled to lead in the future the most important equestrian festivals in the world, especially as the value of the financial prizes will reach 13 million Qatari riyals.
"The hosting of this tournament in Katara reflects our endeavor to be present with our public in all forums," Dr Al Sulaiti said, hoping that the Qatar International Arabian Horse Championship will be a global event that attracts all those interested in the horse and equestrian world.
It should be noted that the competitions for the title include the following categories: the horse category of one year, the young horse category (2 to 3 years), the horse category (4 to 6 years), the older horse category (7 to 10 years) and the horse category (11 years). (QNA)
