Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah dies at 91

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has sadly passed away. He was 91.

The Amiri Diwan has announced that the Emir of Kuwait has passed away, according to Kuwait News Agency. 

 

 

A statement issued by KUNA said, ”It is with great sadness and sorrow that we mourn to the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the friendly peoples of the world, the death of the late His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, who has moved next to his Lord.”

 

 

The country’s Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Sabah, the emir’s designated successor, has been carrying out some of his duties since he was hospitalized in July 2020.

A royal order was issued assigning the Crown Prince, “to take over some constitutional jurisdictions of His Highness the Emir”, KUNA previously stated.

Sheikh Sabah ruled Kuwait since 2006 and steered its foreign policy for more than 50 years.
